Success for Stadium event
Although still to be completed, the Forsyth Barr Stadium is already hosting successful events with the second Open Day attracting over 8,000 people.
The Open Day gave people the opportunity to get a closer look at the huge steel structure that has been growing by the day over the last few months, see the scale model, win prizes and ask any questions to Stadium experts.
Popular questions were:
David Davies, CEO Forsyth Barr Stadium, was thrilled with the turnout.
“The response has been overwhelming, everyone was really positive and excited about the new Stadium for the city. We had people from all around New Zealand and a few good Welsh supporters along as well – all were impressed with what they saw.”
“We’re confident that the energy, enthusiasm and spirit of the people inside the Stadium will ensure Dunedin retains its reputation for being one of the greatest hosts of international events. Dunedin can look forward to a new era of events and entertainment and be really proud of what we’re achieving together.”
Rotary supported the event and raised over $10,700 for their International PolioPlus programme.
On completion in August 2011, the Forsyth Barr Stadium will be New Zealand’s largest indoor arena and only covered natural turf stadium. It will have capacity for over 30,000 fans.
